About me
I am Mathew Forshaw, a serving Borough Councillor for Coupe Green and Gregson Lane on South Ribble Borough Council. I was elected in May 2023 and am guided by my Christian beliefs, with a firm commitment to representing our community with integrity, transparency, and a focus on delivering tangible local outcomes.
In October 2025, I made the decision to join Reform UK, becoming the first representative of the party on South Ribble Borough Council. I took this step because I believe our residents deserve a truly accountable, constructive, and values driven opposition to the current council administration, one that champions British culture, identity, and community wellbeing above partisan interests.
I am passionate about restoring trust in local politics and ensuring that decision making is guided by the interests of residents first. I stand for straightforward, honest representation and believe local government must be responsive, accessible, and results orientated.
During my time in office, I have worked with colleagues to address key issues facing South Ribble, including community safety, local governance, and protecting vulnerable residents. I have also been involved in cross-party council efforts, such as supporting the assessment of the risk posed by organised child sexual exploitation in our area, to ensure councillors and agencies fully understand and act on serious safeguarding concerns.
I remain actively engaged in local events, forums, and consultations, always with a focus on delivering for the families, businesses, and neighbourhoods that make South Ribble a place we are proud to call home.
